Dear Congressman McCarthy,
I'm writing to strongly urge you to use your influence within the Republican Party as the House Minority Speaker, to lead an effort to change the name of the Republican Party to the MAGA Party. The Trump Party would also be a good choice. As you are the House Minority Speaker, and in close contact with former president Trump, I delegate to you, to choose the one better suited for the future, but I suggest you to also consult with Marjorie Taylor Greene, the highly-informed and respectable representative from Georgia. I believe her opinion would also be quite valuable. And maybe representative Matt Gaetz too, if he isn't too busy with his other interests.
Conservative principles that made the United States what is it is today, like loyalty to the Constitution and respect for the Rule of Law are no longer important to the constituents of this party. Our new priorities are loyalty to Trump and our conviction that he would still be President if it wasn't for the "Big Lie". We need a party name that represents our core beliefs. I also urge you to nominate and champion the aforementioned Marjorie Taylor Greene to take over representative Liz Cheney's leadership position after the party kicks her out.
In all seriousness, the sooner and the more completely the Republican Party degenerates into the Party of Trump, who inherited Republican majorities in both houses of congress and lost both, the sooner it will lose relevance and create room for some sensible alternative that will stand for conservative principles, rather than a personality cult. I pray that there's something to still stand up for in a few years, at the rate the Democrats are going.
While you're bowing to Trump and the GOP is completing its transformation, as a former Republican, I'll be sending money to Liz Cheney, Ben Sasse and others who are brave enough to call out criminal behavior.
Stay Trumpy!
Paul Krugman writes that Bernie Sanders is not a 'socialist' in a New York Time opinion column. Bernie Sanders claims he's a 'democratic socialist'.
Kevin's short article over at NR provides a few concrete illustrations of Bernie's brand of socialism.
